Ashley Capital came together with the City of Flint and the Brothers and Sisters of Oak Park to announce a new chapter for Flint’s Oak Park. Ashley Capital’s investment of nearly $500,000 will help drive the transformation of the iconic community space, Flint’s first public park.

A gathering point for workers and their families during the early 20th century automotive boom, Oak Park has long stood as a symbol of Flint’s resilience and community spirit. Originally developed in 1911 on the land that housed the “Tent City” for new arrivals, the park has seen generations of families create lasting memories and forge deep connections.

With the revitalization project, Ashley Capital is investing in the future of Flint by enhancing the once endangered Oak Park with two new pavilions, picnic areas, grills, and an ongoing commitment to park maintenance over the next 20 years. This investment goes beyond infrastructure; it’s about ensuring that future generations of Flint residents have access to a space where they can gather, celebrate, and create their own memories.
Bernadel Jefferson, Bishop of the Brothers and Sisters of Oak Park, shared a personal reflection during the announcement that Oak Park is about family, and is not brick and mortar but is “blood, sweat and tears.”

As Ashley Capital’s Flint Commerce Center continues to expand on the former Buick City site, the revitalization of Oak Park underscores the company’s dedication to community development and long-term positive impact.
Oak Park’s renewal represents a commitment to the heart of Flint and its people. Ashley Capital’s investment ensures that Flint’s legacy of community, connection, and growth remains strong.
